The Sheffield Cats Shelter is preparing to celebrate their 129th birthday anniversary with a fundraising event to support cats across the city.

The shelter has rescued and rehomed cats in Sheffield since 1897 and hopes to raise £3,000 through this year’s celebration.

Jordan Jonathan, Fundraiser and Social Media Apprentice, says the event is an important opportunity to raise awareness of the charity’s work while generating vital support for the shelter.

The birthday is also an appreciation to every cat lover, supporter and volunteers who have supported The Sheffield Cat Shelter.

The celebration will take place at the shelter on Travis Place, Broomhall where part of the road will be closed for the event.

Visitors can enjoy stalls run by local businesses, live music and guest speakers, with all proceeds supporting food, medicine and treatment for rescue cats.
