This Sunday Sheffield Wednesday welcome a Norwich side in storming form to Hillsborough in their quest for survival.

Over the last six games Norwich have scored 12 goals and conceded just one, picking up 18 points in the process. They now sit with a 10-point lead at the top of the Championship table.

For Wednesday, in contrast, it’s the polar opposite. Despite the arrival of new manager Darren Moore, Wednesday have collected zero points and scored on just three occasions whilst conceding 13 times in their last six games.

The hosts suffered a disappointing loss last time out against high-flying Reading, going down 3-0 at the Madjeski Stadium.

Between October 2005 and April 2009, the Owls failed to lose against the Canaries in the second division. The last meeting between the sides at Hillsborough was on the 3rd November 2018 when the away team ran away 4-0 winners in a season in which they proceeded to win the league title.

In that game the Canaries bounced back from the disappointment of a missed penalty to seal a comfortable victory. Finnish striker Teemu Pukki, who is expected to start in the upcoming fixture, hit a brace in that game and will be looking to find the back of the net once again.

Neither Wednesday or Norwich have any major injury concerns ahead of the fixture with both Moore and Norwich boss Daniel Farke set to address the media tomorrow.

It’s going to be a huge ask for Moore’s Owls to get something from the game against the league leaders who seem destined for an immediate return to the top-flight after suffering relegation last season.

The hosts will need to pick up points, though, in order to build momentum for the closing 10 games of a season in which they have found themselves in a relegation dog fight.
