A new app detailing Sheffield’s beer gardens set to re-open from 12 April has been launched.
Bevvi includes a virtual map that mainly focuses on areas Crookesmoor and Broomhall. It also lets you share your location with friends so you can find places to go and socialise in a post-Covid world.
Thomas Whale, the man behind the app, said: “After Boris Johnson’s announcement that pubs can soon reopen, I found myself frantically searching to find the best place for a pint ready for 12 April. I imagine people in Sheffield are feeling the same.”

Sheffield’s pubs have been shut since going into Tier 3 restrictions in December 2020, meaning they’ll have been closed for almost five months before the 12 April re-opening.
From that date, the public can eat and drink outside at pubs and restaurants around the UK, under Boris Johnson’s proposed map out of lockdown.
However, the opening of pubs is still dependant on a number of factors which include the success of the vaccination programme and the number of hospitalisations and deaths.
Lockdown depending, the app will soon be able to help users find pubs judging by their current location, and following a successful launch in London, Whale hopes to extend its service UK-wide.
He continued: “We are looking to create a one-stop-shop for your night out. If you are having a beer in the pub, you tap the Bevvi button to let your mates know and anyone nearby can join you – we all know spontaneous nights are the best!
“If planning is more your thing, you can create an event and invite anyone you want to join, whether they have Bevvi or not.”
As well as the virtual map, the app lets users upload pictures of their drinks and communicate with friends.
