Indoor gyms have finally reopened in England following the implementation of step two of the government’s roadmap out of lockdown, which began on 12 April.

Gym-goers have been told to attend the gym on their own or with members of their household, wear a mask while not exercising, and venues must continue to adhere to social distancing and cleaning guidelines.

Indoor swimming pools and other indoor exercise venues have also reopened in the gradual lifting of restrictions.

I spoke to Personal Trainer Emma Hunt at The Gym Group in Sheffield, and gym-goer and student Hannah Youds, 21, about the positive impact gyms reopening has on mental health and the benefits of having accessibility to gym facilities.
