Rotherham United face Blackburn Rovers on Saturday in a tie which could decide their fate, as they hope to escape from the relegation zone.

Having lost their last five games, it really is desperate measures for Rotherham as they could go down with a defeat if Derby County win against Swansea City on Saturday. They do have a game in hand on Sheffield Wednesday and Derby County. Their recent results follow a hectic backlog of fixtures for the side.

They are still without Matt Crooks again after his three-match suspension for his red card against Middlesbrough which caused controversy amongst Rotherham United supporters.

Matt Lax from the Rotherham United podcast said, “It’s now or never, if we lose, I don’t see us coming back we need players to step up desperately. Some players have not had great seasons so we need them to find that bit of quality they must have now.

The Millers’ opposition, Blackburn, have won 2 of their last 3 games but as they are sitting in 15th place, they go to the New York Stadium with little to play for.

Lax said, “On paper we want to play teams like Blackburn who have nothing to play for, although some teams play better with no pressure on. They have won 2 of last 3 games so come to us in some decent form.

“We have played 2 playoff teams in our last 2 games so will be good to play someone lower down the league”.

The last meeting between the two involved Adam Armstrong scoring a 96th minute winner, if the same result happens today Rotherham will be in trouble.

The head-to head details between the two sides.

Lax added, “Safety will be difficult, but survival battles are very difficult to predict, we have to make sure we keep alive after this weekends game – if we do I am confident we will stay up, but we could be relegated if we don’t pick up at least a point”.
