Travellers had set up an unauthorized camp near a Sheffield football pitch earlier this week.

A number of caravans and vehicles arrived at Norfolk heritage park on 26 April 2021.

The pitch on Norfolk Park Road is home to the Pro Socker Pumas Junior Football Club.

South Yorkshire Police have said that they were not heading the investigation into why these caravans had made their way onto the land, but Sheffield City Council would be handling the matter.

A Sheffield City Council spokesperson, said: “We have visited the site to speak to the occupants and provide advice and support in relation to waste and health and safety.

“We have been assured that this is temporary and all those currently on site will vacate by Friday 30 April.

“We will make a further visit on Thursday to make sure they still intend to move on as planned.”
