The New World Trading Company, owners of the Botanist Sheffield, have announced the name of their newest franchise in Sheffield.
After making an announcement in 2019 regarding the opening their second site in Sheffield, The New World Trading Company have just revealed that The Furnace is due to open in June and will be first bar and restaurant within the Heart of the City scheme.
The restaurant name has taken inspiration from the city’s industrial spirit. The local influence into the choice of name continues, as according to The Furnace Team, a digital survey of over 8,000 residents helped to provide a name for the new concept.
Sheffield City Council hopes the Heart of the City Scheme will act as a catalyst in terms of triggering further development in other areas of Sheffield.
The Heart of the City Development is 1.5 million square feet and 250,000 sqft of the development will be shops and leisure space.
It is hoped that the scheme will enhance Sheffield’s constantly evolving food and drink scene, making it the ideal place for businesses to grow and move into new surroundings.
Nalin Seneviratne, Director of City Centre Development for Sheffield City Council said: “We are delighted to see the Furnace nearly completed and look forward to it opening next month.
“With its bespoke Sheffield brand and styling, the venue looks fantastic and I’m sure after several lockdowns over the past 12 months, the Sheffield public can’t wait to go and try it out.”
The New World Trading Company currently have 26 award winning sites including: The Botanist, The Florist and The Clubhouse, which pride themselves on their world-famous beers, curious handcrafted cocktails, contemporary cuisine and vibrant live music.
They are one of the fastest growing businesses in the UK by the Sunday Times Fast Track 100 companies.
As the council set out to create more venues for eating, drinking and socialising with an independent vibe, it is hoped The Furnace will of equal success.
Liam Wood, Head of Recruitment at The Furnace said: “Sheffield is famous for being an industrious city, so we’re excited to meet the hard-working local staff as we open up applications to join the Furnace Family.”
