A Sheffield support dogs charity is holding its first fundraising event in over a year to raise funds for a new training hub.

Support Dogs UK has trained dogs to aid those suffering from physical disabilities, epilepsy and autism for the past 29 years. 

The abseil, which is to take place on 22 May at Millers Dale Bridge, has already raised over £3500 from 28 participants.

Dogs of all shapes and sizes work as support

Tess Thompson, 36, who is the community fundraising manager has said that the charity has “trained around 300 to 400 dogs” since its creation. 

“It costs around £23,000 to train a support dog and we need to raise all the funds ourselves as we don’t get any government funding. Our primary goal is to support people and change people’s lives.”
