Animal lovers in South Yorkshire have been urged to support rescue shelters seeking to rehome dogs.
Rotherham Dog Rescue have spoken out about the benefits of taking on a pet which has been left without a home, as they look to find new environments for the nine dogs in their care.
Dog owners, such as Jenny Markwell from Sheffield, have also encouraged fellow animal lovers to consider rescue shelters when pondering where to find a new canine for their household.
Research shared by Dogs Trust estimates 130,000 dogs enter rehoming charities in the United Kingdom every year, and recent reports have suggested many are being returned to shelters after being adopted in lockdowns throughout the Covid-19 pandemic.
