The friend of a mother killed in a car accident last Monday has set up a GoFundMe to raise money for her family.
Sharna Brooke Burgin was critically injured during a collision involving a taxi and a Mercedes at 1.25 am on Monday 27 February.
The other passengers in the vehicles all escaped with minor injuries, apart from one man who received serious injuries but has since been discharged from hospital.
The driver of the Mercedes left the scene after the accident.
A 23-year-old man later handed himself into police and was arrested for dangerous driving and failure to stop. He has been bailed pending enquiries.
Emily Hinchcliffe, friend of Sharna, has set up a GoFundMe page to help support the family of the deceased and her 3-year-old daughter.
On the page she wrote: “It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that we have to share the unexpected passing of Sharna Brooke Burgin on Monday 27 February 2023. Sharna was a daughter, sister and mother to Isla-Rae.
“With all the emotional pain and stress that death brings, it can also bring financial burdens. We want to raise whatever we can for Sharna’s family and Isla to help with anything in these unexpected sad times.”
Other friends and family wrote moving tributes on Facebook.
Ashley Turner wrote: “My beautiful bestest friend In the whole wide world, my soul sister I’m truly heartbroken and devastated, life will be so different without you my right arm. I miss you so much, you will be truly missed by many, may you rest in eternal peace, I love you always and forever and cherish every moment we shared, I will help look after your family and your little girl, fly high my angel until we meet again.”
