A mould-infested council flat is causing a Sheffield man to suffer with severe health problems, he claims.
Russell Fowler, who lives in Keating House just behind London Road in Sheffield, told us how he’s been in hospital twice with pneumonia and hasn’t shaken a cough for months – symptoms he blames on the mould growing in his flat.
Since December 2022, mould has developed at an alarming rate across Russell’s flat, and he told us: “I wouldn’t even have a dog living here.”
Mr Fowler contacted the council for help but they said it would be months until an engineer got out, making Russell feel like ‘a mug’ for paying his rent.
Green Party Councillor and Chair of the council’s Housing Committee, Douglas Johnson, said that the general issue of mould and damp stemmed from a lack of funding from the Government, and the council would work hard to help Mr Fowler.
