A protest against Sheffield’s new Clean Air Zone was held last Saturday.
The Sheffield Clean Air Zone (CAZ) launched on the 27 February 2023, with an aim to reduce harmful emissions in the city.
There is a daily fee, if your vehicle does not meet the minimum standard, of £10 per day for polluting vans, LGVs and Taxis and £50 per day for coaches, buses, lorries and HGVs.
Critics say “that taxing the working man will not save the planet”.
Lee Michealswords, who gave a speech at the protest told Shef News: “We all want to save the planet and we can do that in our own little ways but this is not the way to do it. This is a way of making money.
“No one has been able to vote on this and it has been in no one’s manifesto at all, it’s just been imposed on us.”
