The Festival of Debate is the largest annual politics festival in the UK and takes place every spring across South Yorkshire.

With over 50 organisations, featuring over 100 individual speakers, the festival has been running since early April and will continue all throughout May.

On Saturday 22nd April, the event of ‘Self-awareness: An act of community’, explored how woodland walking, as a means to ‘self-soothe’, encourages people to think about who they are in relation to the rest of nature.

Trainee Counsellor and Nature-inspired Coach; Julie Mitchell, and Trauma support worker and Wellbeing Coach; Sonia Dixon, both discussed how self-awareness can support emotional healing and lead us to have greater compassion for ourselves, for each other, and for the world in which we live.
