Some Sheffield residents have called government actions “despicable”, after they took the Royal College of Nurses (RCN) to Court to call off a strike action.
The RCN had planned a 48 hour strike action from 8pm on April 30th until May 2nd.
This will involve thousands of South Yorkshire’s NHS nurses walking out to highlight their pay dispute with the Government.
Health Secretary Steve Barclay took the issue to the High Court, where the judge ruled Tuesday’s strike as ‘unlawful’ which forced the strike to be cut short.
RCN General Secretary Pat Cullen said it was the “darkest day” of the pay disputes with the government so far, speaking outside the Royal Courts of Justice following Thursday’s ruling.
Ewan Harkness spoke to some Sheffield residents who supported the RCN strike action.
