From the cosmopolitan to the classic martini, World Cocktail Day is back.
The day was originally started by Drinkaware, the charity which brings awareness to the effects of drinking.
The international festivities mark the publication of the word ‘cocktail’ in the Oxford English Dictionary in 1806.
With the boost in popularity in mocktails and non-alcoholic drinks, World Cocktail Day is a day everyone can enjoy.
Lucy Johnson, 28, a bartender at South Street Kitchen, Park Hill, says she thinks cocktails and mocktails are popular because they offer ‘a fun experience’.
According to the data analyst, CGA, the UK sipped around £604 million worth of cocktails in 2019.
