SAYiT Sheffield held an event to celebrate IDAHoBiT, the international day against homophobia, biphobia and transphobia.
The event is held on May 17th every year to commemorate the official recognition of homosexuality as a sexuality and not a disease.
Heather Paterson, CEO of SAYiT Sheffield, emphasised how important this year’s event was for combatting the alarming increase in hate crime reported in the city.
The event hosted in the Winter Gardens held a platform for different organisations and activists to give speeches about LGBTQ+ rights and how to uphold them on a local and national scale.
Guest speakers included Rainbow Blades, Sheffield Police, Councillor Ben Miskell and many other prominent advocates for the LGBTQ+ community.
