The Reusable Revolution campaign is encouraging the use of reusable cups around Sheffield to reduce single-use plastics.
Sheffield initiative Plastic Free Sheffield Central is trying to do their bit to decrease the city’s use of plastic cups.
Greg Hewitt, 34, Community lead said: ‘‘We are trying to create a revolution all about making an impact on plastic pollution and encouraging reuse.’’ The campaign is hosting an event tonight at the Showroom Café Bar 7-9 pm to share what they have learnt and what to expect in the future.
Globally, 500 billion plastic cups are used each year.
Morgan Crisp, 24, Sustainability analyst said: ‘‘Research conducted by the centre for environmental policy predicts that it takes on average 450 years for plastic cups to break down.”
