Sheffield’s Corporation nightclub was cleared in the early hours of Sunday morning following a report to the police by a woman stating she had been raped.

Corporation nightclub on Milton Street was emptied on Sunday, February 4, at around 2am, following a reported sexual attack. Today, South Yorkshire Police announced a 19 year old man who was taken into custody on suspicion of rape, has been released on bail.

The nightclub has since responded to the incident, outlining new procedures including setting up a new hotline with the number displayed in all toilets.

The statement issued also outlined that the club has been working closely with the police, “providing full cooperation and assistance in their ongoing investigation.

The police have expressed their satisfaction and are pleased with the measures we have in place implemented to aid their efforts”, they added.

In the statement made on Corporation’s Instagram account on Wednesday they reassured customers that “the safety of all who attend are of the upmost importance.”

South Yorkshire Police in a statement have said: “Specialist officers are providing support to the woman as enquiries continue.
