The snow remained on the ground still coating Sheffield in a soft blanket of pure white.
On February 8th, Sheffield experiences a wintry blast of snow that sweeps across the city, coating streets, parks, and rooftops in white.
The snowy pathways at Weston Park wind through expansive ground, flanked by towering trees adorned with delicate snowflakes.
The landscape takes on an ethereal quality as the snow blankets the park, creating a pristine white canvas against the backdrop of the historic Western Park Museum and monument.
Students after class gathered up in Weston Park to make snowmen and have snowball fights.
Yiheng Wang, an urban study student at the University of Sheffield said, “It is very difficult to see the snow since I come from the southern part of China. It is an unusual experience to have fun with friends on a snowy day.”
Local authorities are hard at work, deploying snow ploughs and gritting vehicles to clear major roads and ramps. Despite their efforts, some minor disruptions to First Buses and TM Travel are reported.
Residents are urged to exercise caution while driving or walking in snowy conditions and to stay informed about any weather-related updates or advisories issued by local authorities.
Drivers had great difficulty getting up to the ramp on Weston Street, which led to congestion and late commuting.
DPD delivery drivers experienced a large amount of deliveries, however the snow made delivering parcels to the doors more difficult. Limited time has made the work heavier for the delivery drivers.
Despite the challenges posed by the wintry snow, Sheffield residents embrace the opportunity to enjoy the beauty of nature’s snowy spectacle.
The Starbucks at Western Bank noted customers are eager to get hot chocolate for the winter snowy days. The order of hot chocolate has increased three times than usual.
The MET officers forecast that no snow will be on February the 9th, despite being cloudy with the spell of rain will still fall on weekends.
The temperature will still predicted from 4℃ in the morning, then rising up to 9℃ by the evening, and remaining 6℃ or 7℃ at night. Residents are better off going out with warm coats.
