Dozens of young children and parents enjoyed live music and vibrant performances in the Winter Gardens in Sheffield this half term.
Sheffield Family Hub and Start for Life Services organised the “Play, Chat and Learn together” event held today in the city centre.
Catherine Ellison, a Family Hub coordinator said: “There has been a national campaign about home learning environment and the importance of parents engaging children into early learning.”
The heart-warming event featured children running, laughing and the older children learning about the animals and plants. Parents were sitting and reading, with others playing Lego or painting.
There were information stalls and coordinators chatting and engaging with parents and children alike.
The organisation “Start Well” were promoting healthy eating habits for children, help with toilet training and weaning.
Parents on Facebook thanked the organisers for the event: “Really impressed with the whole thing! it was fantastic! Thank you”
Other organisations like Sheffield Library services provided books and peer support teams offered support for women feeding.
When asked whether there will be more of these events, Catherine Ellison said: “It is open to discussion”.
This event took place on Thursday 15th and Friday 16th of February from 9:30 am to 4:30 pm.
