Sheffield United are trying to bounce back after a 6-0 loss against Arsenal at Bramall Lane on Monday.
Blades manager Chris Wilder discussed the loss, alongside injuries and their upcoming match at yesterday’s press conference.
Wilder said that ‘the performance and amount of goals were unacceptable’ from Monday’s match.
He prioritised the importance of stopping the goals to give the team a better foothold in the game.
When posed the question if it had been his biggest challenge in his football career, Wilder responded: “Yes, without a shadow of a doubt. Me and my coaching staff need to be at our best as well.”
“It’s a tough gig at the moment, I think everybody understands that. I live in the city, there will be people sympathetic around the situation and there will be people who are critical, and I understand both aspects.”
He is trying to to get the team back on form and drive them to success for tomorrow’s 3pm kick-off against Bournemouth.
Wilder said that he is going to play a similar squad this weekend to the likes of Monday.
Despite this, he said there may be some change in players since “a couple came out of the Arsenal game not in great shape so yet again we are fighting that battle”.
They will also be fighting the battle to get out of the relegation zone, placed at 20th compared to Bournemouth at 13th.
Wilder also highlighted Bournemouth’s danger: “You know they went down and had to come back up under Scott and had a fantastic season, then survived last year through a good finish, but yeah they’re a solid club who have a lot of talent in the team.”
However, it’s going to be a challenge for Sheffield with the likes of Lowe, Basham and Norrington-Davies still being injured in the last quarter of the season.
This challenge has been an issue all season however, with the switch from dominating the championship to surviving the premier league being a difficult change to grasp.
Wilder also emphasised the need for more quality to be shown, something which he said he expects as a manager.
