Sheffield Wednesday Community Programme has partnered with Roundabout charity to organise a sleepover in Hillsborough stadium to raise money for homelessness.

The event is not only an experience for Sheffield Wednesday fans, but for families looking for a night of activities and fun.

Emily Bush, the Roundabout Fundraising Manager, said: “The annual Roundabout Sleep Out has always been one of our most popular annual events and we have been asked so many times if there was a version the whole family could support.

“An event like this cannot truly replicate what it is like to be homeless, lonely and frightened – but it will offer a small insight into the realities that are faced.”

The money raised goes directly to support Roundabout, they help homeless young people to turn their lives around and give them the best possible future.

Roundabout told ShefNews that their previous annual sleepovers were extremely successful but were not suitable for families.

Ms Bush added: “We have been keen to introduce a sleepover that children can take part in, so we have teamed up with Sheffield Wednesday Community to make that happen. It is the first time we have run the event and we’re excited to see some familiar and new faces here.”

The event starts at 8pm Friday 22 March and ends at 7am the following morning.

During the night participants will have the opportunity to have exclusive access to the stadium grounds and take part in fun activities.

The event costs £20 per person and each person has a sponsorship aim of £100.

Roundabout told ShefNews the best way to raise money is for someone to explain their personal reasons for taking part and why they want to make a difference.

Ms Bush said: “We also advise that they think creatively and don’t rely just on sponsorship – holding bake sales or selling unwanted items and donating funds all helps towards their target.”

A mystery celebrity guest will also be unveiled towards the end of the week.
