In recognition of Safer Sleep Week, an event is taking place at Meadowhall to educate parents and carers on this topic.
Colleagues from in and around South Yorkshire have teamed up to improve the recognition of this cause.
This includes members of various organisations such as volunteers from Baby Basics, NHS nurses and midwives, and members of Family Hubs as part of Barnsley Council.
They are raising awareness on sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS), safer sleep, and showing parents multiple ways to reduce the chances of their baby coming to harm.
Safer Sleep Week is The Lullaby Trust’s national campaign that takes place every year.
The aim is to target parents and make them more aware of how they could potentially save their baby’s life.
The campaign supplies parents and carers with lots of practical advice to help them reduce the risks of unexpected infant death.
This guidance also includes safer sleep advice for premature and low birthweight babies.
The event will run in Meadowhall from Monday to Friday, as Safer Sleep Week lasts from 11-17th March this year.
