A recent report from the University of Sheffield stated that the city has retained its position as the real ale capital as it continues to bring in tourism.
This will be particularly apparent in the coming summer months.
George Brook, co-owner of Triple Point Brewery, who claim to brew the best gluten free beer in the UK, said: “One of the things people are interested in is that it’s from Sheffield, so some of our branding’s leaning towards being more Sheffield focused.”
The University report suggests that Sheffield is experiencing a beer tourism boom, with the region now housing 58 breweries.
This is more per head than anywhere else in the country.
Mr Brook continued: “It’s the outdoor city as well, it’s just such a great thing for summer and tourism.
“I think Sheffield’s really bad at shouting about itself, so hopefully that’s the kind of thing that’ll start to be fixed and changed.”
Many events in Sheffield reflect this boom, including the Sheffield Folk Sessions Festival which will be taking place on the 29 to 31 March.
The report also says breweries are helping to improve run down areas in the city.
With the days getting warmer and longer, this should be good news for Sheffield.
