The takeaway business Urban Pitta has been shortlisted for best Sheffield takeaway by Exposed Magazine only a month after opening their second branch.

The popular takeaway business opened their Ecclesall Road branch on the 6th of March.

Michelle, an admin worker for Urban Pitta said: “It’s just been so busy which we were hoping it would be.”

The business has risen in popularity following their recent success in raising money for Sheffield Children’s Hospital.

“On the opening day all pittas were £1.99 and we donated all that money to the Children’s Hospital and we raised £1498.52. It was amazing to be fair, it was really good. We opened from 11 o’clock to 8 o’clock at night and it was constant. It works both ways, it gets people used to it being there and to just do a good thing for charity as well is fantastic” Michelle says.

This week Urban Pitta was shortlisted for best takeaway in Sheffield.

She said “We didn’t know about it, it was only because someone let us know we had been shortlisted and we’re just so proud because we hadn’t asked anyone to vote for us so they’ve done it off their own back really.”

Their first branch opened in Summer 2022.

Michelle spoke about public support, she says: “It’s had a really good response, because it’s local we get the same people coming in day after day and week after week so it’s gone down really well.”

“It’s something new, something different and it’s healthy” She added.

A recent Facebook post by Urban Pitta says: “This recognition wouldn’t have been possible without our dedicated team who work tirelessly to ensure that every dish is made with love and every customer leaves satisfied. From our chefs to our front-of-house staff providing exceptional service, each member of our team plays a vital role in creating the Urban Pitta experience.”

When asked about plans in terms of more charity events, Michelle says: “We don’t know for the future but we probably will do.”
