Try Tag Rugby are encouraging people to join the April leagues, after being awarded to the Eagles Foundation.

The first league matches are every Thursday and starts today at the King Edward VII Lower School and ends on the 27th June.

Try Tag Rugby referee, Stephen Reilly said: The Eagles foundation is very positive on pushing rugby league within Sheffield and South Yorkshire, whether that’s able-bodied, disability athletes.

“Whether that’s physical disability, learning disability or non-contact which is what we’d like to promote via tag rugby.”

Try Tag Rugby is a sports organisation across the UK that offers leagues and events, they also host free taster sessions for anyone who would like to get involved.

Stephen said: “There’s a wide range of things that you can do with tag, whether that’s playing, spectating, refereeing, coaching.”

It is £56 to join the league for ten weeks and there is another league every Tuesday at Forge Valley School.

He said: “I love the social side, so after we play a game we go to the pub, there’s more of a community rather than a competition down at Tag in Sheffield.”
