As the Snooker World Championship 2024 heads into quarter finals this Wednesday, fans from near and far are flocking to Sheffield to soak up the electric atmosphere surrounding the event.
Organisers have offered a unique hands-on experience with the sport to engage fans.
Snooker tables have been set up in the Sheffield Winter Garden, allowing enthusiasts to try their hand at the game with BBC capturing.
Similar setups can be found outside the stadium, providing an immersive experience for all attendees.
Nick Wells, a 40-year-old furniture maker who sells merchandise annually at the event, shared his enthusiasm: “It’s been here for years, especially with the Crucible. It’s like footballers like going to Wembley, Snooker like coming to the Crucible.
“The tables here just enable people to have a feel of what it’s like to be those guys. Chances to get on TV as well, with the BBC filming.”
For supporters unable to secure tickets, a large television screen has been set up outside the stadium. Attendees can relax on canvas chairs and soak in the action in a peaceful atmosphere.
As anticipation mounts for the quarter-finals, Sheffield is buzzing with excitement; proving once again why it’s the heart of snooker culture.
