Sheffield United have been relegated from the Premier League after returning to the top flight of English football this year.

After only gaining 16 points so far this season the Blades have had a poor year on the pitch, conceding the most goals in a single season in the Premier League.

After their 5-0 defeat to Newcastle this weekend, manager Chris Wilder will now have to start preparing for life in the Championship next season.

As a result of their relegation fans can expect the return of the Steel City derby if Sheffield Wednesday manage to retain their spot in the Championship and survive relegation this weekend when they take on Sunderland in the last game of the season.

We spoke to Sheffield Wednesday fan Seamus Grant to gather his thoughts on United’s relegation, the possibility of the steel city derby returning, as well as how this is going to affect the city of Sheffield going forward.

Mr Grant said: “I’m looking forward to seeing them next year” and when asked about a possible Steel City derby he said: “I think it’ll be the biggest game of the season for any club in the Championship.”
