Sheffield Croquet Club have been entered into a national competition after winning one of their Yorkshire leagues this season.

They finished top of the 2023/24 Yorkshire Federation Golf Croquet Handicap League, beating Bishop Monkton to the title.

Captain Ki Hulme said he was very proud of the title win and the opportunity to play across the UK.

“We will now be representing Yorkshire around the nation, which we’re so happy about.”

The club have performed well over recent years, winning the Full Lawn League last year, despite some location troubles.

The club had to move to Hillsborough Park Bowling Club in 2017, after an arson attack at their previous venue in Bolehills.

John Crossland, the longest serving member of the club, said: “We were up there for a number of years until the pavilion was burnt down and all our equipment was lost.

“We’re more than happy down here now, we’re more visible and we’ve got a good relationship with all concerned.”

Mr Crossland also said the club is welcome to everyone, old and young, and they would welcome students into the club as they have done in the past.
