A performance by The Dizzy Club in Sheffield City Centre drew the crowds on a sunny Bank Holiday Monday.
The Sheffield-based band play traditional jazz, and have played at ‘3,000 plus’ festivals according to their website.
Band members John Naylor, Shez Sheridan, Mike Fleming, Ryan Taylor and John Watterson have been putting on several performances across Sheffield to celebrate their longevity.
Their last performance on this anniversary tour took place on Monday 10 May in Leopold Square.
The event was free of charge, with Dizzies’ fans filling up a lot of the area, but many stumbled across the gig by accident.
John Naylor, guitarist and vocalist, said: “It’s a privilege to play in the city centre in front of such wonderful people.”
“This is the last of our little celebration tour until June and the acoustics in the square have made this gig a really special one.”
The jazz outfit played under a gazebo in front of Zizzi, with space in the square in front of them opened as a makeshift dance floor.
Spectators of all ages took to the floor to show off their moves, some with more elegance than others.
One couple took the limelight with full swing dancing routines, much to the delight of onlookers and customers at the surrounding Leopold Square eateries.
It wasn’t just an event for the older dance lovers, as children found themselves loving the attention of a few hundred eyes on their moves.
A lady sat on a wall opposite the performing band even let her pug loose to roam the groove zone, much to the surprise of partaking jiggers.
Infamous Dizzies tunes ‘Mack The Knife’, ‘I’ve Got My Love To Keep Me Warm’ and ‘Oh My’ were all played during the festivities.
The atmosphere was rocking for the performance which lasted from 2pm-4:30pm, as the end of the last song was met with thunderous applause.
Upcoming gigs see the Dizzies return to Leopold Square on 14 July for another free performance, alongside venue shows for which tickets can be bought now on their website.
