South Yorkshire police have confirmed two individuals will be brought before court in relation to graffiti tagging crimes in Sheffield city centre.

A 22 year old man has been charged with possession of a controlled class B drugs and criminal damage to property valued under £5000. He is due to appear at Sheffield Magistrates’ Court later this month.

A second 19-year-old man from the Rotherham area has also been fined more than £200 after being found guilty of tagging a number of buildings in the city centre. He has been given a six-month conditional charge.


Waqaar Hussain, Neighbourhood Policing Team Constable, Said: “Graffiti is a blight on communities and a number of people have rightly contacted us to express concerns around this issue.

“We want to make it clear that we will not tolerate this offence and anyone caught committing criminal damage will be dealt with.”

South Yorkshire Police worked alongside the council and Sheffield’s Business Improvement District in an effort to crack down on graffiti tagging.
