Beloved Cat’s house burned down

A beloved Sheffield cat’s shelter has been burned down overnight in Parkhill, Sheffield.

Garfield, who was in the shelter during the time of the fire, managed to survive the ordeal.

According to some residents, he was saved by an individual who managed to kick the shelter over, allowing the cat to break free from the fire.

Garfield has not suffered any major injuries from the fire, however some people have given descriptions of the cat suffering singes to his whiskers and fur.

Local resident Jihn Omer said: “The news is very sad. He is quite famous. He is a lovely cat.”

The cat has had an Instagram Account dedicated to him and has become a beloved staple of Parkhill and the surrounding areas.

Another person added: “There used to just be a little box with a cat bed in it, then someone bought the lovely house for Garfield. It’s such an evil thing to do, I can’t believe that someone has done this.”

It is believed that the cat does have an owner, but decides to live outside.

A third person commented: “I saw Garfield everyday walking to work. Every time I walked past, there were people giving him things like water or treats. It was so cute.

It feels like part of the community has been lost. It’s horrible.”

South Yorkshire Police’s involvement in the incident is currently unknown.
