Sheffield’s oldest surviving theatre hosted Jenny Lockyer’s play ‘The Last Flight Out’ as a tribute to the “lone girl flyer” Amy Johnson.
Johnson was the first woman to fly solo from England to Australia.
The sold out Lantern Theatre, saw as Lockyer flew the crowd through the turbulent life of the aviation legend.
Lockyer used many letters from Amy Johnson to inform her script writing, and is on an 8 month tour around the UK.
Kevin Jackson from the Lantern Theatre said: “Hosting this story not only brings Amy’s story back to where her journey began but also highlights the rich cultural tapestry of Sheffield.
“We are genuinely excited to provide a platform that honours her (Amy Johnson’s) memory and continues to inspire future generations.’’
