A Sheffield man has been jailed for repeated shoplifting offences.

Lee Gardener, 36, of White Thorns Drive, Sheffield appeared in Sheffield Magistrates Court on Monday (3 March) charged with 13 counts of theft.

Retail Crime Officer Tony Nicholls, from the Sheffield Retail Crime Team said: “Gardener committed more than a dozen thefts over a two-month period, showing a total disregard for the law.”

Gardener stole around £3000 worth of items between 3 January and 2 March 2025.

Gardener was arrested on 3 March and appeared in court the same day. He was sentenced to one year in prison and fined £750 in compensation.

Officer Nicholls added: “I am glad that Gardener has been jailed for his repeat offending and hope that his time behind bars is the wakeup call he needs.”

Gardener pleaded guilty to all 13 charges.
