A musical party for babies will be held by the Jolly Melodies Music Company in Dronfield this Easter.

The party will involve singing, percussion, and refreshments, while every child participating will receive a special gift. The organisers believe this will be a great event for parents as well as their children.

Michelle Jerryson, 41, the programme’s teacher said: “Everyone gets to know each other and gets to chat with each other, which is really nice. Everyone makes friends and gets a chance to spend some quality time with their baby and their toddler, making memories.”

Michelle thinks it’s important for parents to go out and socialize with other people during the events to help build new routines.

She added: “When you’re a new mom, if your husband’s at work, or if you’ve not got your partner to help you and no family, then the days are long and the nights are longer if they’re not sleeping.”

According to YOUGOV data, almost 1 in 5 parents surveyed say they rarely or never have meaningful contact with another adult outside their household.

Michelle said: “It is a welcoming space. There’s no prejudice and we’re just all joining in and having a fun time together.”

All activities are Easter themed, celebrating the spring time with an Easter egg hunt, and baby bird and bunny-themed activities.

Michelle said the joy of her teaching is in helping babies learn new skills and develop into the world.

“I like watching the little brains think about things and watching things and wondering what it all is. It is really nice to be part of.

“It is amazing and sort of seeing their development all the way through is a real highlight for me. And then when they leave me, it’s quite sad, because they’re not going to see me every week anymore.”
