Chris Wilder is anticipating The Sky Blues to ‘come for the win’ as Sheffield United prepare to host Coventry City on Friday evening.

The Blades are looking for a win as a crucial three points would push them to the top of the league table.

Coventry City, led by Frank Lampard, have been on an excellent run in the Championship this season.

In a press conference speaking ahead of the game on Thursday morning, Chris Wilder is expecting a competitive clash.

“They are an outstanding team, well coached, well managed, I would say in the top three or four squads in the division for strength in depth, quality, age and experience.

“Coventry City have got arguably one of the best groups of players in this division and that’s been shown in strength and in depth and they are absolutely steaming through everybody.

“I am not so sure that they are going to come and sit in and hit us on the counterattack. I think they will come for the win, as they have done right the way through Frank’s time.” Wilder added.

In terms of injuries, Harry Clarke and Tom Davies are still injured but Wilder says they are making ‘good progression’ and hopes to get them back in the first-team group next week.

“They will take part [in the rest of the season] 100 percent.”

Vini Souza, key midfielder, is back in the squad for Friday night’s encounter and has been back training.

Frank Lampard has said he is prepared for the ‘challenge’ Wilder will put on the pitch but Coventry will be ‘at [it’s] best considering how tough it will be’.

“They have a lot of experience and Premier League experience. I know Chris [Wilder] well and how he motivates and manages, coaches his teams and they’re difficult to play against for a number of reasons.”

The Blades are undefeated in their last six home league games against Coventry City since the 2-1 defeat at Bramall Lane in February 2013.

Sheffield United currently sit 2nd in the table, level on points with league leaders Leeds United, and two points ahead of Burnley in 3rd.
