Home Secretary Yvette Cooper will meet with the parents of Harvey Willgoose today.

The meeting comes seven weeks after the 15-year-old boy was stabbed whilst attending All Saints Catholic School in Sheffield.

The incident received nationwide attention last month. In response, South Yorkshire mayor Oliver Coppard pledged a ‘zero tolerance approach’ to knife crime in South Yorkshire.

Earlier this month, Mayor Coppard set out a five year policing plan for tackling knife crime in the area.

Following the presentation, the mayor said: “Knife crime is falling, but the rates of knife crime, along with levels of serious violence and anti-social behaviour, are still too high.

“Too many young people don’t feel safe on our streets.

“Violence against women and girls remains prevalent across our society, and we desperately need to bring down the number of people who are killed or seriously injured on our roads every year.”
