A new campaign against cuts to the benefits of disabled people has held its first protest in Sheffield.
More than a hundred people gathered in the city centre on Saturday 22 March for the Crips Against Cuts event.
In the annual Spring Statement this week, Chancellor Rachel Reeves confirmed changes to the benefits system – including a higher threshold criteria for Personal Independence Payments (PIP).
Speaking outside Sheffield Town Hall, one campaigner told the crowd: “It’s about fighting for each other and caring for each other.
“I’m willing to stand up and fight – even if it makes me ill – because it’s what I believe in.”
Crips Against Cuts held simultaneous protests at 22 other UK cities, and will hold an online protest tomorrow at 1pm.
