Sheffield United Manager, Chris Wilder, remains adamant that the foot will not be taken off the pedal ahead of their final Championship game against Blackburn Rovers. The Blades boss shared the importance of ending positively ahead of their upcoming run in the playoffs.

Saturday’s game at Bramall Lane will dictate Blackburn’s chances of making the playoffs, however, Chris Wilder warns Rover’s fans not to expect an easy contest’ despite their already confirmed third place finish.

He said: “Of course there is definitely something on it for them and I think we have all looked at the permutations, what can happen if they win. There is nothing in that from our point of view, we are full tilt. We are on our own patch, no matter the day we have to stay consistent.”

Blackburn currently sit eighth in the league with a potential three points on Saturday bringing them into very strong contention for top six; alongside playoff rivals Coventry and Millwall.

Ahead of their upcoming busy three week schedule, Wilder said: “I couldn’t have wished for them to be in any better place if I’m honest in terms of the group mentality and energy. We are solely focusing on Saturday but we are confident we can go and play any team and go and get a result but getting Saturday boxed off is the biggest thing then we can look at attacking the play offs in the manner than we have attacked all season.”

Sheffield United’s third place finish was confirmed on Easter Monday but Wilder remained positive on the season that his side have had.

He said: “It’s been a fantastic season. If we are going to finish two wins off 100 points, I can’t really be beating our players up about performances and their efforts.

Reflecting on the 2024/25 season, the Blades manager said: “to get into the nineties, to get over two points per game is incredibly important to all of us, no medals for doing that, understandable.”

Injury updates for Ben Bereton Diaz and Tom Davies were included with Davies confirmed to get a few minutes tomorrow night after being out with injury since February. Whereas, Diaz is confirmed to miss the clash with Blackburn after contracting a virus.
