Art lovers in Sheffield will still have a chance to catch one of the city’s most beloved annual events before it wraps up later this week.

Open Up Sheffield, a city-wide celebration of creativity, sees over 150 local artists open their studios and exhibition spaces to the public, offering a rare chance to meet the artists and buy directly from them.

From paintings and ceramics to photography and textiles, the event showcases a wide variety of artistic talent from across the Sheffield region. Participants range from seasoned professionals all the way to emerging artists, all eager to share their work and process with visitors.

Fleur Tortice, who is a 21-year-old expressionist portraiture artist with a combined 45,000 followers on TikTok and Instagram (TikTok: @fleurportrait ) said the event plays a vital role in building connections.

“It is a good opportunity for artists to connect with the community” she said.

Miss Tortice also added that as someone early in her career, the event offers personal inspiration:

“As someone who has goals of having an open studio one day myself, this is a great opportunity to see what is on the other side of that.

“This event allows other people who maybe wouldn’t get the chance to see artists in their element to get a look behind the scenes and potentially inspire new artists.”

One of the stops on this year’s trail is All The Good Stuff (Instagram: @agssheffield), a community-focused gallery and gift shop on Arundel Street.

Fumi, a staff member at the store, said the event not only supports artists but gives people a new way to explore the city; “This is a great place for people to buy gifts and find unique items. The event is a great way for people to discover new local artists”.

The event concludes on Sunday, May 11, making this weekend the final opportunity for anyone who hasn’t yet taken part to explore Sheffield’s creative side.
