The Sheffield-based charity Tinnitus UK have announced their return to Sheffield this May with their Tinnitus Information Roadshow, an event designed to help spread awareness, support and community connection for individuals living with tinnitus.
The charity have announced their roadshow will be coming to Sheffield on Saturday, May 31, 2025.
The event will take place at Workstation, a central venue in Sheffield.
The event will feature expert-led talks on understanding tinnitus, current treatment options, interactive taster sessions including yoga and mindfulness, and an exhibition area showcasing tinnitus services, products, and support organisations.
Greg Hewitt, events coordinator at Tinnitus UK, said: “Our Tinnitus Information Roadshows are more than just events; they are lifelines for many.
“We aim to reduce the feelings of stress, confusion, and isolation that often accompany tinnitus by providing accessible information and fostering a supportive community environment.”
The event is fully inclusive, with communication support available for individuals with hearing impairments.
The charity has announced that entry to the event will be free, and refreshments will be available. However, they suggest that registration will be essential for people planning to attend to ensure adequate accommodations for all participants.
Coordinator Hewitt added: “Tinnitus can be an isolating condition, with friends and family struggling to understand how it feels to adapt to the presence of loud or persistent noises. Some people choose to bring a partner or family member to the event, which can often help both parties understand more about the condition and the experiences or behaviours it can bring.”
One in seven adults in the UK have tinnitus which is the sensation of hearing a sound when there is no external source for that sound. Someone with tinnitus may hear ringing, buzzing, hissing, whistling or other noises. Tinnitus can be there all the time or come and go.
Tinnitus UK is currently the only charity in the UK dedicated to providing tinnitus support services via helplines, support groups, and forums. They aim for their support services to offer a lifeline for people living with tinnitus, with over half of their callers stating they better understand tinnitus after speaking with one of our advisers.
