Rotherham Council and the town’s people continue their ongoing fight to keep their main post office open.
This comes after Post Office Ltd announced a five-year transformation plan last month, which includes offloading their remaining 108 directly-owned branches in the autumn to independent businesses.
Closing them down would help fund wages for postmasters.
One of the branches to be offloaded includes the main branch in Rotherham town centre.
After unanimous agreement to oppose the closure by all councillors, a proposal has now been presented to the Government outlining the views of the town with MP Sarah Champion representing Rotherham in parliament.
Councillors Simon Currie and Gillian Garnett expressed their anger on the closure this week along with the people of Rotherham.
