A cancer patient is advocating for better sun safety education in Sheffield.
Charlotte Killeya, 45, of Ranmoor, Sheffield, has stage four melanoma, and is working with charities to spread awareness about skin cancer.
The campaign includes a digital billboard in Sheffield City Centre that urges people to wear sunscreen.
Mrs Killeya was diagnosed with skin cancer in 2020, and after 10 months of treatment she was told it had spread to her lungs, neck and brain.
She said: “Even people in their teens and their late twenties can get melanoma, so it’s really important to check your skin and keep safe.”
She’s also been visiting schools to talk about sun safety, and advocating for businesses with outdoor spaces to get sunscreen dispensers.
