Symphonies will ring out to celebrate the 150th anniversary of St. Marie’s RC Cathedral’s Lewis organ on Saturday 7 March.
The concert will feature several pieces by Finzi, Crew, Vaughan Williams and Poulanc played by West Riding Ensemble’s String Orchestra.
The organ, built in 1875, had its official birthday on December 25 of last year, but the festivities have been postponed until March this year.
The organ has undergone several renovations over the 150 years that restored it to its original form after many years of wear.
Robert Webb, St. Marie’s organist, said: “The organ is unique in that it is the only organ by this particular builder that is as it was when it was built.”
