Councillors in Sheffield shared concerns about Palantir’s NHS contract at a meeting this week, following protests from a grassroots campaign group.

The #NoPalantirInTheNHS South Yorkshire campaign is supported by Medact Sheffield and Healthworkers for a Free Palestine.

The NHS Federated Data Platform, powered by Palantir, would organise information currently held by the NHS in different databases into one platform.

However, concerns have been raised about data sharing, as well as Palantir’s links to the Israeli military and ICE operations in America.

During a Health Sub-Committee meeting, members agreed the council should write to South Yorkshire Integrated Care Board “to seek assurances” regarding “appropriate safeguards.”

Palantir previously said their software is “playing an important role in improving patient care.”
