Sheffield Tigers Speedway team will donate 10 percent of sponsorship packages to the Sheffield Children’s Hospital Charity as part of their ongoing partnership in 2026.
This follows their recent announcement of their collaboration, with fundraisers and activities set to take place for both parties throughout the year.
Tigers’ co-owner Damien Bates said: “Both ourselves and the team at Sheffield Children’s Hospital have been very pleased with the response and reaction since we announced we weren’t going to have a main team sponsor as such this season and instead would support what is such an important local charity.
“We’ve already pencilled in a few official collections throughout the season but we wanted to do a little bit more.”
The Speedway team will be attending SCH today as part of their press and practice day to learn more about the Hospital. They are also pencilled in to hand out free tickets and merchandise in a few weeks’ time.
Speedway presenter Ryan Guest said: “Speedway has traditionally been a sport for the whole family and to be welcoming families from Sheffield Children’s Hospital across this season just adds a nice, extra feel to it all.
“There’s no doubt about it, whilst Sheffield Speedway has a fantastic core of regular, loyal supporters, there is also the need of a new wave of fans and this initiative certainly opens up that opportunity.”
Riders take to the track for the first time at Owlerton this season later today as part of their practice day, with supporters in attendance.
It is the 50th anniversary of the charity in 2026, and also 150 years since the Hospital opened its doors, which were both driving forces behind the partnership’s formation.
Representatives from the Children’s Hospital will be attending a couple of fixtures throughout the year to inform supporters about the ongoing work and projects the charity is involved with, and will be fundraising as part of those events.
Mr Bates said: “We’re really pleased to see some new companies and new individuals already giving us their backing and we look forward to welcoming more sponsors on board between now and the start of the season which is just around the corner.”
