Sheffield and Rotherham Wildlife Trust has launched a city-wide competition to record biodiversity.
Sheffield City Nature Count 2026 aims to encourage residents from across Sheffield to explore the city’s green spaces and get out into nature.
The competition will run between April 24 and 26, with this year marking the first time that Sheffield has taken part. It involves over 700 cities globally to see how many species citizens can spot over the four recorded days.
Participants are encouraged to record their sightings on the Trust’s ‘Nature Counts’ system during the challenge and help to push Sheffield up the live, worldwide leaderboard.
Entries are then verified by a team of experts to remove any concern about mis-identification of a species.
