A new baby scan clinic in Sheffield is offering gender scans offering expectant parents the chance to find out their baby’s gender earlier than usual.

The Baby Ultra sound clinic, located on Ecclesall Road, gives parents the chance to see their baby outside of standard NHS appointments.

Alisha Ali, manager of the ultrasound clinic, said: “We wanted to bring our services to Sheffield itself and be as accessible as possible. Ecclesall Road has excellent transport links.

“We offer gender scans from 14 weeks, which is earlier than any other clinic in Sheffield. Usually, parents find out the gender at around 20 weeks.”

“These scans are offered alongside NHS scans and give parents the option to book additional appointments for extra reassurance, as well as the opportunity to find out the gender earlier. It also offers a great bonding experience for parents.”

“The response has been amazing and we’ve been really busy with great feedback about our professionals.”

Eva Webber, 33, a new mother in Sheffield, said: “Private scans can be important for reassurance. If you have a straightforward pregnancy, you usually only get two NHS scans, one at around three months and another at five months.”

“A lot can happen in between, which is why many people will choose private scans. Personally, after losing five pregnancies, it was important for me for my 6th pregnancy to make sure everything was okay rather than wait. I had a lot of anxiety before my scans. I also had complications that weren’t picked up initially, so being able to have extra scans gave me reassurance.”

The independent clinic provides 2D, 3D, and 4D scans, with the option of HD live imaging.

It is staffed by a team of fully qualified sonographers and experienced healthcare professionals using advanced technology to give parents an early glimpse of their baby.

The Baby Ultrasound Clinic was established in 2015 in response to a growing demand for affordable scans. The clinic aims to provide services to suit a range of budgets.

While NHS scans remain the standard for medical care during pregnancy, private clinics offer additional opportunities for parents who want extra reassurance or an earlier glimpse of their baby.
