Sheffield Action on Plastic hosted a Sustainable Market inside Victoria Hall on Norfolk Street.
The group is run entirely by volunteers and was formed by Greg Hewitt, 37.
Mr Hewitt started the initiative shortly after moving to Sheffield and noticing an abundance of single-use plastic.
The volunteer group run several events throughout the year, including an all-year-round 10-week online course called ‘Unpacking Plastic’, that anyone can sign up to via their website.
The Big Plastic Count recently published its 2026 report revealing the scale of the UK’s plastic problem. It estimates that 13 billion pieces of plastic packaging are being thrown away each year, however 93% of people surveyed said they would prefer to buy loose produce if available.
