Sheffield Manor Lodge welcomed back its annual Medieval Mayhem event over the May Bank Holiday weekend, transforming the historic grounds into a lively celebration of the site’s medieval past.
Visitors stepped back in time to enjoy two action-packed days of entertainment, with archery, children’s jousting, dressing up and traditional outdoor games on offer throughout the weekend.
Crowds also gathered to watch thrilling tournaments and battle demonstrations.
The site was brought to life by medieval reenactors, including archers, blacksmiths and even an apothecary offering historic remedies.
The event explored the period before Mary, Queen of Scots, was held in captivity at the Manor Lodge on the orders of Elizabeth I, reminding us of the rich and fascinating history on Sheffield’s doorstep.
